En Plein Air

Thanksgiving Point was hosting the “Plein Air Festival” yesterday and today. Mom said that she wanted to go for her birthday. Local artists come to Thanksgiving Point and paint all day “en plein air” which is a French term for painting outside and painting what you see. It was really neat to see the different artist’s interpretation of the views they were surrounded by. We saw a wide variety of styles and paintings. It was a really fun event!

When we came home from the festival I decided to take up painting. Brianna and I found our painting supplies and made a night of it. Brianna watercolored a picture she found. I used acrylics to do the following picture. Granted, I’m no Breezy Diether, but it’s a start. I definitely need to keep practicing.

Another Friend Married!

My dear friend since childhood, Michelle Smith was married on June 18, 2008 to Jeff Corrigan. Sharolee and I went to her reception that night. Of course she looked beautiful. I am really excited for her. Sharolee and I took a picture with her, and naturally this is the only picture on my memory card that was corrupted, so we just have pictures of Michelle and Jeff. Sharolee and I noticed that the oldest of our group of friends from High School are still single, and the youngest are married. Interesting... Congrats and best wishes to Michelle and Jeff!

A family campout

While Devin is home for the next two weeks, Connor requested that we have a family campout, just our family. Once we found a day that worked for everyone, we headed up the canyon. It took a full suburban full of stuff for an over night stay, but it was worth it. We drove up to Timpooneke and ate a delicious dinner and snacks. Later on Grandma, Grandpa, Carl, Kathy, Brady, Shaylee and Brooke joined us for roasting marshmallows and smores. Everyone else left later in the night. We talked for a little while around the campfire and then went to bed. It was pretty cold when we woke up, but it warmed up fast and the mountains looked beautiful! We ate a delicious breakfast which included a variety of pastries. Afterward we headed home. It was a great little trip. Great idea Connor!

Hands

Little kids hands are so cute! Court and Jack were playing in the dirt and looking for bugs so I took some pictures. I don't know why but I love pictures of hands, especially little boy hands with dirt.

The Family Picture

Every time Devin comes home we do a family picture. Usually everyone isn't too happy about it, but we do it anyway. So, naturally, on Sunday we took some family pictures. It took quite a few tries, but we finally got one everyone liked! Here are a couple, but the last one is the one we liked. We also took an extended family picture that night, but Ann and Mike's family wasn't there so it isn't quite complete.
