Sadness

In the middle of this shoot the shutter on my camera broke. It can be fixed but it will take about a week and some cash. So, if you don't see anything for about a week that's why!

Studio Shoot

I reserved the studio at UVU for a couple hours today and here's what I ended up with:

I love when magazines "write" on photos and use them so this was my stab at that.

I made this bird in my 3D design class this semester out of wire. It was very difficult, but overall I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out. Below are the lanterns I made earlier this year. I shot both the bird and the lanterns to include in my BFA application for UVU. We are supposed to include artwork outside our field of emphasis.

Glass

In my photo lighting class we just learned how to photograph glass. Everyone brought a glass object to class to photograph. Naturally glass is quite breakable as we found out. One of the guys in our class was trying to move a table (which we didn't realize had collapsible legs) and the table legs folded underneath causing everything on the table to slide of and shatter. Fortunately no ones camera was on the table, however two glass objects were. Turns out the broken glass was the most exciting to photograph!

Color/Lighting

I was able to check out some lights from school this weekend. I did a few shots inside and was hoping to use them outside as well but didn't have a long enough extension cord, so I shot without. I don't know that I love any of the images, but it was a lot of fun to use the lights on my own and start figuring things out. I still need to watch my family of angles so I can avoid glare on glass...

This is what the picture of the wall looked like a few months ago without the lovely studio lighting:

This series of images shows the original and two versions that have been cross processed (meaning the film was developed in the wrong chemicals). The first was done in photoshop by playing with curves, the other with a spiffy program. We are doing a cross processing assignment in my color class and learned how to do it both with film and digital. My film should be done on Tuesday so I'll probably upload those.
